What is NFPA?
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is the source of codes and standards that govern the industry of fire protection and human security. The development of codes and NFPA standards system is an open process based on the consensus that has produced some of the most referenced material in the fire protection industry, including the national electrical code, the code of Human security and the uniform fire code, the national fire alarm code.
What is the standard NFPA 72?
NFPA 72 provides the latest security arrangements to meet changing fire detection of society, signage, and the demands of emergency communications. In addition to the focus on fire alarm systems, the code includes requirements for mass notification systems used for weather emergencies; terrorist acts; biological, chemical, nuclear, and emergencies; and other threats.

Standards relate to the application, installation, location, operation, inspection, testing and maintenance of alarm systems against fire, systems of monitoring stations of
alarms, systems of alarm notification of public emergency, alarm equipment of fire and emergency (ECS) communication systems, and their components.
